The secret behind any decent club night is its decent residents. DSD is blessed in having three such wonders, Mr Barker, David Ethics and Queen Josephine. Three local lovelies that bring to DSD a uniqueness and a love for music other clubs can only envy.
Mister Barker is the groove behind DSD and his taste for all things good be it house, electronica, disco or indie dance ensures he delivers the perfect soundtrack to your Friday night. From laidback sunset grooves littered with disco delights and sultry basslines to rocket fuelled hands-in-the-air house that seal the night off with one hell of naughty kiss, Mr Barker’s DJ sets are legendary. Promoter AJ is assured in his choice of DSD partner and resident DJ. ‘Chris understands the heart behind DSD and was a natural choice as a partner. His music brings a smile to anyone listening and his support for DSD is unparalleled’. A favourite t-shirt of his states Real Men Love Disco but we think it should say Real Clubbers Love Mister Barker. DSD is Mr Barker, Mr Barker is DSD and we wouldn’t want it any other way. Queen Josephine is the giggle that fuels DSD. Her passion for music is as infectious as the love she feels for DJing and she is one of those characters Brighton wouldn’t be the same without. She’s the perfect warm up DJ easing the crowd into the night ahead with her saucy deep house and after the sun sets she creates a groove so filthy it should come with a health warning. Queenie was a the first on AJ’s mind when it came to choosing his residents. ‘She has a fantastic energy and her enthusiasm shines through her music. She is guaranteed to put a smile on your face while dancing behind the decks. She can warm you up with a soulful set or pump out some dirty dancefloor classics come the early hours of the morning’. Loved and admired by colleagues and clubbers alike Queen Josephine is a regal institution in Brighton and we can’t get enough. The Queen of queens at DSD (and that’s saying something!). ‘Chris and Jo have good taste in house music and that in itself is sometimes hard to find these days! With the sea air on your taste buds and the delightful selection of house beats they throw out, Queenie and Mister Barker deliver a smorgasbord of tingling ecstatic moments to tickle your dancefloor senses.’ Hifi Sean
DSD are delighted to welcome onboard our new resident for 2014 DJ David Ethics. David started out putting on house parties and raves in Cambridge and the surrounding areas back in the mid Nineties and has been writing, DJ’ing and promoting parties ever since. His distinctive DJing style and ear for all things decent have seen him grace the decks of clubs including Good Times, Size, Slackers Convention, Waveform, The Priory, Soup?, Peli-Fest, Space Invaders, Influence and Immersed. His most recent project and residency is Rebel Rabble, an underground dance party that delivers glorious pop-up techno and house parties throughout the city. David, the kind of house rebel we can’t wait to play with. David on Soundcloud
