A DSD Quickie with AJ!

AJ - we love dsd

Its been a long, hot and very dirty disco summer. And we’ve loved every DSD minute of it. So to end the summer season there is only one disco darling we could have a DSD quickie with. Our very own and very lovely DSD promoter and co-founder AJ.  Is there anyone more dirty, more disco and more sunset?

So we are just about to hit the closing party of DSD’s summer season. How has it been for you? AMAZING!! Wow, what an awesome ride, it just gets better every year. I’ve been totally overwhelmed by all the support.

How was Pride weekend for you – the DSD parties were off the hook! Pride was quite something, my favorite one so far. The Brighton and Hove Pride team did a really, really great job. I enjoyed the park so much this year, and hopefully DSD will be making an appearance there next year. Pride is always hectic for me, but now with a great team behind me I can enjoy it a bit more and also have the time to work on more for DSD in the future.

We all love DSD – but the best thing has to be the clubbers – why do you love them so? What’s not to love?!! They are awesome, I am always touched by all the support. I started DSD with love, straight from my heart, I think that comes across and every DSD is always overflowing with the stuff. It always puts a smile on my face to see so many happy clubbers with big grins bopping away. It wouldn’t be what it is with out you all!!

Yet again your guest and resident DJs have delivered a blinding soundtrack to the summer – whats your secret when it comes to choosing such wonders to play at the club? It’s totally a guilty pleasure. I’ve been clubbing in Brighton for 17 years and every DJ that we have behind the decks at DSD has a special place in my heart and on my iPod. Again, the love and support coming from these guys is something special. I can’t say thank you enough. It’s an amazing thing to think I have DJ’s that I’ve followed round on the circuit for years, playing for me . . . and you at DSD!!!

The visuals for DSD are always oh so sexy. How do they come about and what glorious images in you head can we expect on the next set of DSD artwork? I wanted to try and create a whole experience from the flyers to the actual nights. We mix different dance genres to create what you hear at DSD. Disco, soulful house and Electro all fused together, with the unique styles of the DJ’s we have. So the whole idea was something from the future. A new kinda disco bought to DSD by uber hot beings from the future arriving in a mirrorball spaceship was obvious . . . No? Haha, it’s always really fun working with my designers to create something a little different each year. Next year we will be changing it up a bit, we’re working on something fresh and of course epic!! Watch this space . . .

Ultimate DSD 2013 tune? Its got to be Breach ‘Jack’!

If you were onboard the international space station right now which song would you perform and beam back to earth? Dr. Kucho ‘Lies to Yourself’  – this little gem was after all the inspiration behind DSD in the first place.

Dirty or disco? Definitely dirty . . . with a disco tinge of course.

Sunset or sunrise?  Sunrise normally means the end of a good night out. . .but a good sunset as DSD kicks off has to get the No1 slot.

Catch AJ doing his DSD thing this Friday our summer season closing party at Ohso Social Bar, Brighton. 9pm-2am.
